Aurora

Aurora Aksnes born 15th June 1996 Stavanger is a Norwegian music writer and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves is released in May of 2015 by Decca Records. It has been praised by the blogs and the press. Half the World Away - by the Oasis - for John Lewis' Christmas ad and Nature Boy - by Nat King Cole - are already two notable covers that she has recorded. Her name was also recognized from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her track Runaway. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was finding a keyboard in her loft, and becoming fascinated by its music. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to pursue music more as a hobby than as a job. As a result, she began writing the music she composed herself. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. When her mother told her that the songs she wrote were not meant to gain fame for her however, but to encourage people to realize their own value and impact in the world, she started playing them on stage. As a young girl, she began to play the piano and at nine was writing music. Family members didn't even have any idea about it until she reached the age of 14. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. As she says, she likes to write songs. For her, music is the best way to feel anything.
